5 Natural Skin Care Tips for Radiant Skin

The winter months can leave your skin feeling dry, patchy, and far from glowing. You’ve tried everything from expensive creams to face massages but nothing seems to help that glow you’ve been looking for.

Luckily, there are some natural remedies that you can do each day that can dramatically improve the look of your skin. I’m talking a beautiful glow that will even get you your dermatologists nod of approval!

Here are five natural skin care tips for radiant skin.

Natural Skin Care Tips

1. Eat more fruits and veggies.
If you’ve been breaking out lately, you can probably blame your diet. And when it comes to natural skin care, your diet should be the first thing you address.

If you’re like any average American, you might have gone a little heavy on the sugar during the holidays. #Guilty But that’s ok! That’s what the holidays are for so don’t beat yourself up about that.

That being said, I’m sure like me, you can definitely make some positive changes and get your skin where you want it.

Start with reducing your intake of processed foods and sugar and increase your intake of fruits and veggies.

Some of the best fruits and veggies for glowing skin are:
  • Dark leafy greens- think spinach, kale, dark romaine, and chard!
  • Carrots-all that vitamin A and C does wonders for clearing up the skin.
  • Watermelon- full of potassium, electrolytes, and hydration.
  • Oranges- most citrus fruits, including oranges, can help your skin stay free from breakouts.
  • Green Tea- full of antioxidants, green tea (even in supplement form) is super nourishing for your skin!
  • Avocados – healthy fats like the kind in avocados help your skin stay youthful so don’t be afraid of them!

Something I like to try and do every day is make a big green smoothie filled with spinach, citrus fruit, plant protein, and healthy fats. It’s delicious, so good for you, and will help your skin look better by reducing inflammation and providing the vitamins and minerals you need for radiant skin!

2. Get Enough Protein.
I really can’t say enough about protein. It’s not just for refueling your muscles or getting that lean body you want. The word protein comes from a Greek word that LITERALLY means essential.

Your body needs the amino acids it gets from protein to perform essentially every function in your body! That includes forming collagen for smooth and clearer looking skin.

Just make sure that your protein shake doesn’t make you feel bloated or break out more. Many protein shakes are filled with sugar, artificial sugars, fake ingredients, preservatives, and junk.

Do your research and find a protein that will work for you, your dietary needs and preferences. So far my favorite is Vega protein. It tastes good and isn’t full of crap which is what I look for in a protein powder!

3. Catch Those Zzzzs.
You might think that staying up a little later to watch your favorite show won’t make that big of a difference in how your skin looks, but think again!

Getting enough sleep is important for many things, and fresh looking skin is one of them! They call it beauty sleep for a reason.

When you get enough sleep, your body is able to repair and restore skin by increasing blood flow to the skin surrounding your face. You’ll probably get away with just seven hours, but experts say that if you’re getting less than six it could affect your appearance.

4. Move Your Body.
You might think sweating would do more harm than good when it comes to skin. Although it’s always a good idea to cleanse your face after a hard, sweaty workout, all that movement is actually doing your skin a huge favor!

Movement increases blood flow, and like I already mentioned, that blood flow brings nutrients and oxygen to your skin making it look clear and radiant!

Side note: Another way to increase blood flow in the skin around your face is a jade roller. I’ve been using mine for a few weeks now and I honestly feel I have less dark circles around my eyes!

5. Use Natural Oils
This might sound counterintuitive if you struggle with oily skin. Why would you put oil on your already oily prone face?

A possible reason why your skin gets so oily is that it’s trying to overcompensate for dryness. If you put oil on your skin, your oil glands chill out and you’ll have balanced, clear, and non-greasy skin.

Oils are full of antioxidants, fatty acids, and other compounds that can help your skin glow and stay youthful for a long time. They can replace expensive moisturizers and are great for taking off makeup!

Again, you’ll need to do your research here. Depending on your skin certain oils will work help while others might not. My favorite is coconut oil, but I’ve also enjoyed avocado and grapeseed oil too.

You can also include natural skincare products that include oils like argan. I’ve personally have had AMAZING results with FRÉ Skincare. It’s vegan and made with argan oil and made for people who workout. It’s a dream! (Use FITAMY for 15% off FRÉ)
